Although this Scottish thistle tattoo doesn’t look like the kind of tattoo you’d jump to put on your body, there is an interesting tale behind it which makes pretty interesting.
Scottish thistle was adapted as the Emblem of Scotland almost 800 years ago, during the rein of Alexander III (1249 -1286).
As legend as it, an army from Norway was trying to take the Scots by surprise by attempting to invade during the night hours. As part of their stealth approach, they removed their footwear. It were the Norsemen, however, who got the surprise. After stepping on the purple thistle, a shocked soldier let out a shrilling cry, completely ruining any advantage that the sneak attack were to bring them. Scots emerged victorious that day, thanks to a little help from their small purple friend.

What I like about this full sleeve tattoo is the way the tattoo designs go between dark designs with no shading on the light skin, and dark shading that shows the skin as light color designs. It’s pretty seemless the way Miguel weaves this together.

Why aren’t there more ship tattoos on people? It seems like something a tattoo artist can do an awesome job with. I mean take the one below, pretty sweet sailor ship tattoo. But it’s just not that common. My only guess is that it’s a little too old school.

From one pin-up girl to the all-time pin-up girl, this Marilyn Monroe tattoo is a no brainer if you’re trying to put a girl on your skin. Kind of over shadows the fact the artwork in this tattoo is pretty amazing. Just check out the shading and subtleties, pretty nice stuff.

Who doesn’t like a good pin-up girl tattoo? I wonder where she’s climbing to. Nice use of the white to outline certain parts of the girl, making her pop just a little bit more. It’s the little things that make this pin-up girl tattoo stand out.
