It is getting closer and closer to Christmas, and I thought it would be nice to look at some holiday tattoos. I personally love Christmas. It is a time to share meals with family and friends, and give each other gifts. There are also a lot of things that remind us of Christmas.

When I think of the Christmas Season, one of the things I definitely think of is the nicely decorated tree in the living room, with all the lights and decorations that I have collected over the years. My parents use to give me an ornament a year for Christmas so that I could collect the memories and put them on the tree.

I am sure most people know the story by Dr. Seuss, about the Grinch that stole Christmas, and how in the end he learned what Christmas was all about. I think that is an important lesson for everyone to learn around this time of year.

Many of us learned the about Santa Clause when we were children. He brings presents to all the good little children when they are asleep on Christmas Eve. I was told the truth about Santa Clause at age 5 and went and told my whole kindergarten class the truth that I had just learned. Needless to say, a lot of angry parents called my parents the next day.

You can’t forget about mistletoe around the holidays. Kissing underneath the mistletoe is a classic holiday thing to do, although I have as of yet never gotten the chance to do this. Maybe this year.

Happy holidays everyone. Enjoy your good food, great time with friends and family, and of course the presents. I know that this year will be especially special for me and my family.

Now it is time to make your mouth water with the wonderful world of food. I am not quite sure why people would tattoo food on their bodies, but it is amusing non the less.

This is what all boys and girls dream of getting on their body…a cupcake on the potty. This might actually be a great way to potty train sugar high kids. It is kind of a cute tattoo but not something I would ever put on myself.

The best way to honor your favorite restaurant is to tattoo it on your body. It is either in honor of or it is so you remember where to go the next time you get really hungry. This person even put their favorite meal on the tattoo. Almost makes me hungry.

This looks like it was a really delicious burger. Too bad someone took a bite out of it. This is definitely a great way to save your leftovers. Personally I would have asked for it without the cheese.

This is by far my favorite, yet ridiculous food art. One way to save the memory of your favorite breakfast is to tattoo it on your bald head. I do not really understand the true purpose of making such a public statement that is food related, but I guess if you really love your Sunday breakfast then this is the way to go.

I have learned from the experience of seeing a lot of tattoos that if you really wanted to you can find tattoos of pretty much anything.

All through high school and even into my early adult life, I have had a thing for butterflies. I am not sure exactly what draws me to them. It is possible that to me they represent being carefree, they live life to the fullest, and they are light and airy. It is quite possible that they represent all the things that I so desperately long to achieve in my lifetime: peace, tranquility, and a carefree attitude.

I really love this one. I have never seen one like it. If I were ever to get a tattoo done, this might be one that I would consider. It is such a majestic tiger on the wings of a butterfly.

This is another tattoo that I find very unique. If I look at it once you see a butterfly. Looking at it a second time I can see two bird heads facing each other. Although I would never get this one done myself, I really like it. I even love the detail; it looks so light and feathery.

Now this one is really neat, although it is hard to tell if it is really a tattoo someone has. I am not sure I have seen real tattoos with such a bright color scheme. This woman could possibly go to the beach half naked and get away with it. I love the colors and the design but it is not a place that I would get a tattoo. Looks too painful.

To finish it off, we have the butterfly lady. I honestly believe she is covered completely from head to toe in butterflies, although we cannot see her entire body. It makes me wonder if she got them done all at one time or if some were done one day and others another. All I can really say to this one is wow. This is truly an amazing display of butterfly tattoos.

Butterflies represent so many things. I may not have a butterfly tattoo, but if I did it would represent all of the things that I hope to achieve as well as the person I hope to be one day. For now I will be content looking at other people’s butterfly tattoos.

No, I don’t mean tattoos kids get. As much as I like skin art I do not think its a decision a young child should be able to make for themselves. However, loads of parents for many years now have made a habit of having a photograph or a moment in their child’s life permanently inked on their skin. These tributes to their children are always some of their favored lifelong pieces.

I love this kid! He looks like he has a mohawk and the Gene Simmons tongue pose is priceless on his little face!

Three pretty incredible kid faces. However, who the hell still puts those giant sailor caps on their kids head. I don’t know a kid who wouldn’t rip that off pronto.Much less be caught posing in it.

Love the color added to this. Seriously good lifelike likeness and the coloring ads a taste of the abstract I can appreciate.

And last but not least this kid kinda rocks. Not sure why this great piece of art includes a purple and red bicycle, but tis a great piece nonetheless.

I was in a weird mood and so I thought about the craziest thing I could think of for tattoos. Sure enough I came up with tattoos that look like holes. I am not really sure why people would want to have extra holes in their body that are not even real, but for some reason they do.

Yep this is exactly what I need, another hole in my head. I am not quite sure why anyone would want to look like they got beat up every single day. They may think it makes them look cool to look like they get in all kinds of fights, but to me it says “Hey, I am weak, because I get beat up severly every single day.” Either that or they are clumsy and keep falling down the stairs.

Ah yes, the classic “I have an alien living inside of me that is trying to get out” tattoo. All I can think is gross. That picture is a little hard to handle if you look at it too long. Yep that is definitely a tattoo I will not be getting for myself any time soon. However, I have to say whoever did the tattoo did a really amazing job with the details.

Here is another example of holey tattoo work. Again not one I would personally choose to get done, but it does look pretty realistic. This man must be very resilient to have that many bleeding gunshot wounds and still be alive. I can only imagine what a time a coroner would have finding the cause of death when this gentleman finally does kick the bucket.

Wow, now this is very clever placement of a tattoo over a belly button. I would almost consider getting something like that as a temporary practical joke tattoo. What a mischievous little monkey!

As is evident, people get all kinds of different tattoos for different reasons. For some people tattoos of physical injury are appealing. Others like to be silly with people and animal tattoos showing their rear ends.

It is still a popular game among gamers. This tattoo is really nice looking and I probably wouldn’t mind having it on my arm.

Here is one for a paper and pencil gamer. A 20 sided die is used in games like Dungeons and Dragons. Dungeons and Dragons has always been a very popular game to play with friends amongst gamers. Not so sure I would have chosen a die of all things.

Here we can see an example of an arcade game tattoo. Ms. Packman was originally made as a unauthorized sequel to Pac Man by Midway in 1981. It is pretty much the same game as Pac Man, except for it being a female. Although an odd place for a tattoo, I think it is kind of cute.

Here is an example of the online MMORPG gamer tattoos. These tattoos are the two main factions in World of Warcraft: on the left side is the symbol of the Alliance and on the right side is the symbol of the Horde. This tattoo represents a very popular online multi player game called World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft, the online game, is based off of the Warcraft computer game series.

Finally, here is a gamer who could not really make up her mind. So instead of getting it wrong, she opted to include just about everything just to be sure. This is definitely a tattoo that would be a bit much in my taste, but I guess if you are going to do it then you might as well go all out.

These tattoos just go to show that even nerds and geeks like to represent what they are passionate about through tattoo art. If you are truly passionate about something, here is one way to show your dedication.

Yea, its post three under unusual tattoos. However, I simply can’t stop myself. Some of these are complete train wrecks of course, and we all know how hard those are to look away from. And then some of them of course also can even make a tried and true skin art junkie like me stop and think and ponder the actual reasons behind them. So here is a look at some unusual art that I have not covered in past post!

Well okay! I can’t believe I haven’t had this one up but there it is. Really dudes? Come on. This is why children are taught to be scared of people with tattoos. How very unhelpful to the cause in my opinion!

Crap. This is a good tattoo. But I really can’t stand to look at it any longer. Ow, wow, yuck.

Wow, pretty good likeness of Hawkins….Great really! But still….nuff said.

Tooth tattoos. What the hell. Not just no but hell no. I love ink, but an ink gun on my teeth is still considered drilling to me.

Yeah I loved my tapes too. However, now I love my CD’s.

So not all art is sunk in ink, and some art will never sink in the minds of those who do not have them themselves.

Although I don’t ‘think’ Elvis Presley had any ink of his own, quite a few ink lovers have sported his face and likenesses on their skin for years. Although I do like Elvis and his music, this is a tattoo I am more then glad to view on others! Some of this ink is truly incredible.

Something about the eyes on this tattoo. Seriously, this is some MAJOR incredible ink. Looks massive real to me.

More young Elvis. Not the best likeness in my opinion, even though its very close. Its the colors here I really enjoy. The detail on the shirt is incredible for this size.

Zombie Elvis? Zombie Sniper Elvis? Yes it is. Pretty freakin’ cool really! At least a 100 percent unique idea.

Well maybe not so unique, since here is yet another Zombie Elvis, but seriously, this is realllllly good ink.

Wow, Vampire Elvis is just as creepy. Sorry, I know Halloweens over. But this is also great art.

Dubbed Fat Sweaty Elvis, its still art, even in this comical form. And its still Elvis!

So I guess most of these gave me a new appreciation for Elvis art, or at least a great appreciation for artist who specialize in this type of skin art. Hard to forget how real those eyes look on the first tattoo. Really incredible work @ the artist!!

So we all have a friend or family member who openly declares that Halloween is their favorite holiday. Whether it is because of the enjoyment your children get out of it, or your own knack and love for dressing up as otherworldly entities, most everyone can find something good about Halloween to enjoy. Free candy, hiding behind cool mask and costumes, and the infinite attempts to scare you that end up being just good goofy fun. Some have taken Halloween quite literally. Check out some of the Halloween skin art I have located.

Kind of wild that this art looks like its been pencil sketched. If that’s intentional its pretty damn incredible in my opinion.

This is one sweet jack-0-lantern!

Another wild and unique jack-o-lantern tattoo! Love the detail under the ‘pumpkin’ as well.

Rottin pumpkin. Complete with flys, and none too happy looking about it either. Maybe we will throw those away before January this time!

Another Tim Burton-esque tattoo looks incredible!

Do you have any Halloween art?

Scottish tattoos are common for those who share Scottish ancestry. Check out some of the coolest Scottish tattoos around!

Okay so I am biased. What can I say? Scotland is the land of my ancestors, including my not-long-passed-from-this-earth-Granny. She was a spitfire, all 90 lbs of her, and her Scottish brogue was music to my ears. Well obviously I am not the only lover of all things Scottish. Some of them even have it inked into their skin!

Great likeness of Mel Gibson as William Wallace. However, for the record, it is highly unlikely that the real William Wallace looked much like Mel at all.

This is a Scottish Lion tattoo and the most elaborate and huge I’ve ever seen. The Scottish lion symbol is an ancient one.

I’ve always thought there was something noble in the simplicity of the Scottish flag.

Scottish pride is always great to see! Apparently this Scot also has some fondness for the Welsh symbol as well.

Another take on the scottish lion. This one with a twist of the Wales symbol by showing it to the side!

All in all those who sport tattoos of their home countries are only doing so to show a sense of pride in their heritage. This has always been of great interest to me and whenever I see a tattoo that seems to show ancestral interest, I always enjoy asking the wearer about their ink. You should too!
